THE CHALLENGE
WHAT IS THE DRAGON'S ASCENT?
We, the management team of both the Tan Hill Inn and the Green Dragon Inn at Hardraw (and keen walkers ourselves), wanted to give people walking this section of the historic Pennine Way an unforgettable and complete experience - to add to the creation of a memory to absolutely treasure. We've put together a range of packages that we hope will add value and enjoyment (coupled with a bit of luxury and respite) to this fantastic and challenging walk! The packages range from basic map packs, through pre-booked meals and travel rations, to a complete 'Stay & Walk' package of Inn Rooms and Fine Dining. All our packages include a Challenge Certificate and T-Shirt.

Hardraw Force Waterfall
A short walk from the Green Dragon Inn, this impressive waterfall is a popular attraction. It plunges 100 feet into a pool below and is a beautiful spot to visit before starting the trek.
The Route
This stretch of the Pennine Way takes you through the stunning Yorkshire Dales, characterized by rolling hills, open moorlands, and traditional stone walls. The terrain can be challenging, with significant elevation changes and sometimes boggy paths.

2 - Heading Out from Hardraw
Initial Path: Leave Hardraw via the track past the Green Dragon Inn, heading north. As you will be following the Pennine Way markers, it's well-signposted.

4 - Descent to Thwaite
Route: From the summit, descend towards the village of Thwaite. The path is clear but can be steep in parts.
